9. Foxcatcher

I don’t know how I can properly explain the plot of Foxcatcher to you — because I’m not even sure I understand what it’s about; it has to have one of the strangest loglines for a movie in recent memory. But if there’s anybody who can pull off an unlikely project, it’s Bennett Miller, who turned the unfilmable Moneyball into one of the best movies of its year. So why can’t he make magic with a movie about a paranoid schizophrenic (played by Steve Carrell) who kills an Olympian?

Although it was set to debut next month, we allegedly have to wait until to 2014 because of recuts, so we may have some time before we find out.
