People who expect more from you than they are willing to give you.

She spent so much time on the wrong person because she sees the best in people. Because she gives out second chances. Because she hates giving up on others. 

Find someone who is an active part of your life instead of someone who uses any excuse to get out of seeing your family, someone who spends more time away from you than with you, someone who only communicates with you over text.  

It means letting down someone who would have given you the world. Someone who honestly believed that you would never hurt them. Someone who thought that you were different than the rest.

Stop texting him when you know you are only going to end up disappointed again.

Say goodbye to your insecurities. Say goodbye to your self-consciousness. Say goodbye to the days where you acted like your own worst enemy instead of your own best friend. 

Date a person who makes you look forward to things that you never realized you wanted. Wearing a white dress. Slipping a ring onto your finger. Sharing a bed. Sharing a life.

Instead of being invited back over, you will hear about how busy he is. Instead of becoming his number one priority, you will be pushed to the side. 

Texting is an easy way to make it look like he is interested. It is an easy way to keep you invested while doing the minimum effort. 

In 2018, I will try my best to follow my dreams instead of using anxiety as a reason to settle.

You deserve a person who knows your worth and effortlessly reaches your standards. 

It taught me to be less of a pessimist. It made me realize that true love does exist, that people can stay loyal, that I am not meant to be alone. 

Effort means placing a kiss on their cheek when you come home from work and squeezing their hand while grocery shopping and blasting their favorite song in the car. 

I get attached easily because it’s rare for me to get along with other people. Usually, I have nothing to say. Usually, I fake laughs and smiles until I’m alone again and can breathe.

Your forever person will answer your most serious texts with phone calls. 

It convinces us to stick around for longer than we should just in case. It gives us false hope. It makes us think we might have a future when you know we don’t. 

I never realize I’m hurting people because I think so low of myself. I can’t imagine anyone being upset about losing me. I can’t imagine anyone caring that much about me. 

It is not love when only one person is exerting effort, when only one person seems to care whether the relationship lasts or collapses into rubble.
