You’re allowed to miss someone. You’re allowed to grieve their absence in your life.

Calls you emotional or crazy when you talk about your feelings. No, you’re not emotional if you cry about something. No, you’re not crazy if you’re upset and want to discuss things. He is just invalidating you.

“Finding out I’m unlovable. Like what if falling in love just further proves that I’m not really deserving of it?”

“I’ve been thinking about you lately.”

“Honestly? I’m still waiting for the day I stop missing her.”

I knew the nights when you grabbed my body mid-sleep because you thought I was someone else. I knew the times your mouth wanted to form around her name.

“Yeah, I ate them all in one sitting because I have no self-control and I hate myself.”

I’m going to need you to stop your face from doing that thing where it looks really good ALL THE TIME. It’s incredibly distracting and I’m trying to concentrate on other things. I’m trying to live my life, you know?

We have to stop expecting our girls to fit into one of two categories: The Madonna or The Whore. That’s not how we, as people, work. We aren’t all one thing or the other.

People have accused you of having standards that are “too high” – as if that’s a bad thing.

We didn’t break up because we stopped loving each other or caring. But it just all became too much. We took separate time to figure some of our shit out, but still kept in touch as friends. But it became clear we would never just be friends and, even when things were tough, our lives were infinitely better with one another in them.

When you love the idea of someone, you’re setting yourself up to be disappointed. You’ve crafted such a grandiose dream that there’s just no way the real person can live up to it.

When he tells you he’s not ready, listen to what he’s saying. Don’t look for the exception. Don’t try to find a loophole.

Trying new things, even if you end up looking dumb.

You showed up when my heart was at its most cynical. You came about when I rolled my eyes at commercials for sappy movies because, CLEARLY, that stuff is fairytale nonsense.

For all the times you made me laugh, I conveniently blocked out the tears and emotional punches.
