Originally, Tiana (the studio’s first African-American Disney princess) was supposed to be a maid, but black audiences in test screenings voiced what a bad idea that was. It was scrapped, but the movie still has another problem Mulan got Shang, Ariel got Eric, Aurora got Prince Phillip and even Belle got a hottie Daddy Bear, if you’re into that whole beastiality thing. Tiana’s love interest is an amphibian. Progress, y’all.
