10. Sleeping Beauty/Snow White
The Disney movies seem oddly interested in captive, passive women suffering in extremis, like a Lars von Trier movie for kids. The best examples of this are the movies in which the heroines are literally dead or in a coma, waiting for a man to give them life. In Sleeping Beauty, Aurora is barely even a character at all, sidelined as a supporting player in her own story. They instead foreground Prince Phillip’s hero journey. Disney shows that women can only exist if a more narratively important male allows them to.
Takeaway: Walt Disney would have been wayy into The Walking Dead.
