You’re Allowed To Leave

  • 0

“If you ever find yourself in the wrong story, leave.” ― Mo Willems.

You’re allowed to leave any story you don’t find yourself in. You’re allowed to leave any story you don’t love yourself in.

You’re allowed to leave a city that has dimmed your light instead of making you shine brighter, you’re allowed to pack all your bags and start over somewhere else and you’re allowed to redefine the meaning of your life.

You’re allowed to quit the job you hate even if the world tells you not to and you’re allowed to search for something that makes you look forward to tomorrow and to the rest of your life.

You’re allowed to leave someone you love if they’re treating you poorly, you’re allowed to put yourself first if you’re settling and you’re allowed to walk away when you’ve tried over and over again but nothing has changed.

You’re allowed to let toxic friends go, you’re allowed to surround yourself with love, and people who encourage and nurture you. You’re allowed to pick the kind of energy you need in your life.

You’re allowed to forgive yourself for your biggest and smallest mistakes and you’re allowed to be kind to yourself, you’re allowed to look in the mirror and actually like the person you see.

You’re allowed to set yourself free from your own expectations.

We sometimes look at leaving as a bad thing or associate it with giving up or quitting, but sometimes leaving is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Leaving allows you to change directions, to start over, to rediscover yourself and the world. Leaving sometimes saves you from staying stuck in the wrong place with the wrong people.

Leaving opens a new door for change, growth, opportunities and redemption.

You always have the choice to leave until you find where you belong and what makes you happy.

You’re even allowed to leave the old you behind and reinvent yourself.  TC mark

I asked women to tell the story behind one of their Instagram photos 📸

“This is me on the roof of my building forcing myself to laugh. Every time I make my best friend take photos of me I remember that I’ve been single for 5 years and don’t have anyone to be in the photo with me. I’m just alone. My hair looks good though.”

This is the reality of Instagram...

Thank you for your thoughts. It’s very true that to live life to the fullest you need to let go of the things that empty you.

I’m obsessed with this. growth and redemption are a large part of this life, and a large part of why it’s so crucial to recognize these pivotal moments when they come, and even more important to act on them.

[…] Eleven years ago we moved our little family to this great town. We were living in a 3 bedroom condo and that’s not ideal with little kids. They were 4,5 and 8 when we moved here. We wanted to give them a yard to play in. A slow paced life. We found both of those here.  Daddy and I had lived a life that was a little isolated. We were hesitant to let anyone in. We were content to just the 5 of us in our bubble. We had spent many years with very few people in our lives and hearts and that was ok.  When we moved here we really didn’t let that change. But we were open for letting people in. After being here a few years Daddy learned of a group here in town that he could be a part of. I supported it. I had my “social” circle at church and I felt it was important he had one too.  What ended up happening was we found a small group of people to be friends with. To get to know. To hang out with. To do things with. It was nice. It was refreshing to be with people I thought were true friends.  Things were good for about 3 years. Every weekend there was something to do with the group. We played pool weekly with some and then we bowled weekly with others. It was nice.  It had been a long long time since I let people in. The last time I did they moved away and that was so incredibly hard for me. Now we had people to call on if we needed something. We had people to have fun with. We had people we trusted our kids with. We had people to love our kids and treat them like their own. We had expanded our family.  We had a good thing going. Then we decided to try letting others in. We invited one to live with us. We gave her and her son a safe place to be. She was living in a woman’s shelter and was hiding from a very abusive exhusband. She and her son needed safety, love, a family. We thought it would be a good fit.  It was not. It ended badly as most know. But not only did we hurt our family in the bubble. Lose our daughter. We lost most of the extended family we had. They all judged, and turn their backs. We are back down to our bubble in our home. It’s just 4 of us now. We have 2 maybe 4 from the extended family left.  It’s ok. There is nothing we can do about it. It was their decision to walk away. But it leaves us in this great place. We can leave. When the son has graduated and is on to his next chapter in life we can leave. We can start over. We can start a new chapter. And we are looking forward to that day.  This article is so awesome and so what we want to do. And we will.  You’re Allowed To Leave  […]
