10. Jefferson Starship, “We Built This City”

This song broke my heart. I was watching VH1’s “The 50 Worst Songs of All Time” with my friend, and we had finally completed the two-hour countdown to Number One. Yeah! What will the worst song ever… be? And then it was “We Built This City” by Starship. I slumped back in my chair. I had just been playing the song on my iPod the day before. I mean, sure, it’s not a great song — but… the worst ever? I frowned. I scowled at the TV. I wanted to call the VH1 offices to protest. …And that, dear reader, is the moment when I truly realized that I have awful musical taste.
