6. The Cutting Edge (1992)

The Cutting Edge was a pretty corny movie, starring a group of actors that no one really sees around anymore, but for some reason I was somewhat obsessed with it when I was a little boy. D.B. Sweeney, one of the two main characters, starred in some other movie about being abducted by aliens but I can’t think of anything he’s played other than that, probably because this movie ruined his career because it’s so terrible. But, there’s some endearing, innocent aspect to this movie – the soap opera drama, the playful bashfulness of the hockey-player-gone-figure-skater, the betrayal, the regret, all marinated in the happy-go-lucky naïveté of the 90s – that makes The Cutting Edge just as awesome as it is terrible.
