Love is meant to be two completely independent people somehow finding a way to mesh into one another’s lives. It’s supposed to be confusing and difficult. It’s supposed to be messy. It’s supposed to be real.

Sometimes I think real love lies in the little things. In the small ways we love each other, choose each other day after day after day.

She’s a fighter.

“You will always be the miracle that makes my life complete,
And as long as there’s a breath in me, I’ll make yours just as sweet.”

There’s no way to know exactly who you are, to love exactly who you are before getting into a relationship because you’re not just a one-dimensional being.

You are not a bad person because the one you love lost their battle. There is nothing you could have done differently to change the course of life, to change God’s plan, to change the path we are traveling on.

Let’s throw our maps out the window and just go. We’ll trade stories of our histories and laugh at our scars. We’ll stop fighting the universe and let it bring what it must, let it bring us together.

See, Mr. Turner, this is where you went wrong—instead of being a father, teaching your son how to be a good man, you made him a victim in his own crime.

It doesn’t matter the sex of your friend, the race, the background, the history, the time frame, or even the age—a best friend is a best friend because of the way you shape and mold and blend into one another’s lives.

Stay so I can show you how beautiful the sky is on a summer night, or how the crickets sing their love melodies as the sun goes down. Stay so I can rewrite our histories, bring you even closer so I’ll never know your absence. Stay so I can kiss every wound on your heart, until you forget that you were ever broken.

I hope you know I’ll answer. Love has a funny way of tying hearts together, and I always knew we’d be connected, even if our original feelings are no longer there. We always will be.

The thing about home is that it’s transitory. It changes as you change.

Your heart isn’t any less beautiful now that he’s gone. Your soul doesn’t have any less sparkle with him not by your side.

At some point in every day, do something for yourself, just because.

I want your time and your touch, your adventurous side, your longing to experience. I just want you, in all your forms, to discover what’s out there. Discover it with me.

How many times have you picked yourself off the ground, dusted off your dirty clothes, and began again? How many days have you continued forward, even when you thought you’d reached the end? How many moments did you want to give up, call it quits, throw in the towel on your dreams and maybe even on your life?. But you didn’t.

I’ll trace the freckles on your cheeks and the lines of the tattoos on your arms. I will memorize every part of you, even the pieces you try to hide, and I will love them anyway.
