“Fuck the miles. Fuck them. I’ll be here and you’ll be there and we’ll just be long distance because quite frankly, I’m crazy about you.” – Going the Distance

Long distance relationships are hard. There is no need to sugarcoat it. The number of miles between two people — and the fact that they are in different time zones — is a lot to handle.

But here’s the truth about long distance relationships — even though it’s hard, even though it is a struggle, the thought of having someone who loves you still, who chooses you every single day even when they’re far away from you, is the most precious thing and will all be worth it in the end.

A long distance relationship is like any normal relationship. Normal relationships require effort and so does being in a long distance relationship. The only difference is that you won’t be physically together.

A long distance relationship will not work unless two people make it work. This is a challenge. Distance means so little when you both know that whatever happens, in the end, you’ll always love each other. Long distance relationships work if the both of you choose to make your relationship work.

A long distance relationship always finds time to spend together — no matter how big the time difference is. Spending the time together through chatting and video calling, despite the times that the internet connection is shitty, is worth it. Surprisingly, finding time to talk to your significant other even though there is a 4 hour (6 hour, 12 hour or more) gap between you is easy. Love always makes time.

A long distance relationship can bring out the sexiness and sensuality in the both of you. And though sometimes it is awkward and funny, you still make each other feel loved.

A long distance relationship is all about trust and honesty. If you can’t be honest, and if you don’t trust each other, this will never work. Trust and honesty go hand-in-hand. Trust and be honest with each other.

Being in a long distance relationship taught me that no amount of distance will come between the two of you if you truly love each other.

Because no matter how far apart two people are, if they believe and hold onto each other, love each other, and trust each other, distance will never be a problem. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
