8 Films that Seemed Good When We Were Young and Impressionable

Dogma

(1999) dir. Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith’s film seemed like it was probably the most clever thing I ever saw when I was in middle-school. The characters made so many funny and accurate observations about religion (“God watches us in the shower” is one I remember) and it does have a really good cast. But now, looking back, it seems like it was written by a pseudo-witty gamer with bad social skills who didn’t go to college. The same could be said for, essentially, all of Kevin Smith’s films – I just happen to remember Dogma the most.
