This Is How You Lose People

You lose people every time you choose to be dishonest, thinking that they’ll never find out the truth.

You lose people every time you decide to be selfish and take advantage of their love for you.

You lose people every time you leave them in the dark, thinking they will wait for you forever.

You lose people every time you ask them for too much but give so little in return.

You lose people every time you stop making them feel loved and appreciated.

You lose people every time you neglect them, thinking they’ll always be there when you decide to show up again.

You lose people every time you don’t show them that they matter to you.

You lose people every time you choose not to give them the respect and admiration they deserve.

You lose people every time you take their reassurance for granted.

You lose people when you make them feel like they’re not a priority. That they’re your last choice.

Because the kind of people who stick around through thick and thin, the kind of people who let you get away with things that you would not tolerate, the kind of people who give you too much are the kind of people who walk away when they’ve had enough. They’re the kind of people who can take back everything they’ve given in the blink of an eye when they feel like all their efforts, all their love, all their attention have gone to waste.

The kind of people you think you’d never lose are the people who will one day wake up and realize their worth. The kind of people you take for granted are the people who will one day decide that you’re no longer worth their time. The kind of people who suffer for you are the people who will one day decide that you’re not worth the pain anymore.

You lose people every time you think that you will know how to make them stay because trust me, once these people make up their minds about you, once they see that they’re not as important to you as you are to them and once they know for sure where they stand with you, they leave.

You lose people every time you think that they won’t be able to treat you the same way you treat them.

You lose people every time you think that they won’t be able to make it on their own.

Because trust me, these people are not afraid of being on their own. They chose to be in your life because they wanted you, not because they needed you. These people always know when to say goodbye even if it’s the hardest thing to do. Even if it’s the last thing they want to do. They end up choosing themselves and their peace of mind. TC mark
