13 Of The Creepiest, Most Terrifying Stories You’ve Ever Heard

9. When “The Man” visited my little brother.

When I was a kid our neighbors took us to stay at an old summer “camp” in upstate NY. On the campgrounds was a large old house where we stayed. My friend and I were about 11 and my cousin was 15. We were all in one room. We’ve camped quite a bit and we’ve stayed in other old houses upstate without issues. But the noises and creaks that nights sounded so much worse than wind. The way the creaks moved through the house sounded like people walking down the hall or on the floor above. We didn’t get too freaked out but it was noticeable.

Some of the younger kids including my little brother were in the next room. All kids under 10. My youngest brother was 5 or so.

The following morning at breakfast, my mom made an offhand comment that when she opened the door to check in on the younger kids, she saw that one of the older boys was in their room. She asked whether it was my older cousin or my friend (who was tall). We said we had not been in the room all night.

My brother then chimed in and said very innocently that The Man had come in and sat down on his bed. He woke up and saw The Man watching him. He closed his eyes and tried hard to pretend to sleep. The Man watched him sleeping without saying a word. After a few minutes The Man stood and left.

10. It was small and its twisted face smiled at me.

One time when I was around 15, I had a dream.

I was sitting in the dark on my computer in our computer room, when all of a sudden, I hear a rustling. I get up and go to look down the hallway and there I see it. It was the most terrifying little creature I have ever seen peeking out from my mom’s bedroom door. It was small and its twisted face smiled at me and dashed across the hall to my sister’s bedroom.

The next morning I woke up and both my mom and sister had three long scratches down the side of their neck. I told them about my dream and needless to say, we were all pretty freaking spooked.
