This Teen’s Senior Photos Were ‘Too Inappropriate’ For Her School, But The Swim Team’s Speedos Weren’t
Apparently a bralette and exposed shoulders are too much, but a speedo is perfectly fine.
By now, we all pretty much know that dress codes are pretty sexist. It’s very rare that institutions call out men for dressing a certain way, but common for them to criticize and punish women for showing too much skin or being too “sexualized”. And this is no exception.
Twitter user Eleanor was told by her school that her senior photos were “too inappropriate” because they showed off her bralette.
But you know what was considered okay? This picture of the men’s swim team.
Eleanor called out the injustice on Twitter, not to shame the swim team, but to point out that the rules were clearly unfair.
my tweet wasnt to call out the boys its abt the school saying my pic wasnt ok but they show way more skin and get their pic seen a lot more

Honestly, it didn’t make a lot of sense for a lot of people.

Yep. Female shaming in society while guys can do and wear whatever they want to at work again.

Some people had other ideas…
Submit a new one in a speedo

Some people, on the other hand, argued that the school had a point.
An exposed bra is not a sports uniform. I understand how ridiculous and old school this is but it's sort of apples and oranges here…

So, what do you think? Is it a sexist rule or are the two photos very separate issues? Is showing off a bralette and shoulders inappropriate? Or should we all just be over this BS already? Because honestly, to me, these school rules are just getting ridiculous.
