7. You attract what you are, not what you want. And you will accept what you think you deserve.

Love would never be easy for “women like me.” Difficult women – that is.

“Stay away from people who make you feel like you’re hard to love.”

Your almost-relationship can be the thing that gives you growth, teaches you a lesson about love or life or something in between. It’s not a badge of shame or a reason to feel embarrassed. Remember that every time you have the courage to put your heart on the line, and offer it to someone, you are brave. Don’t stop being brave.

When it comes to dating, there is nothing shittier than giving people false hope. It is better to be an “asshole” for telling someone you’re not interested in them or you’ve lost interest in them, than to keep them in an emotional purgatory where they think they have a chance.

You’re always the one reaching out, making plans, making an effort, and showing up. And deep inside you know if you stopped doing these things, the relationship would in fact, come to a screeching halt.

You realize perhaps more easily than you would if you saw them all the time, that your parents are not just your parents. They were people with dreams, and hopes and fears, and baggage. And they are getting older with all those things. As are you.

My question to you is a plain one: Do you think after reading the feedback, what you wrote was wrong in the sense that it took one experience with one person from one culture and made a generalization about an entire culture based on that?

But regardless of what the future holds for you and your relationship status, don’t be so unkind to yourself and think that you alone bear deficiencies that make you undesirable or unloveable.

I think it’s the eating dinner alone thing.

She knows the easiest thing in the world is to judge another woman and make comparisons out of insecurity. She’s mindful of this and makes every effort not to be intimidated by another woman’s beauty, achievement, or success. Because she knows none of those things are a zero-sum game.

“You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and somebody is still not going to like peaches.” But not only that, you might even get rejected by a prune.
