When You Feel Lost, Go Where Your Heart Is Leading You

When You Feel Lost, Go Where Your Heart Is Leading You

Your little, huge heart cannot settle. Pulsing with an effort that weakens your airway. Which way do you turn when no way seems right? Which way do you turn when every way is blurry and you’re in a hurry to understand now? But you know it never works that way. You never figure out the confusion right away. It just never happens that way.

One way grabbed you with no doubts. But then you were told no, so you went another way and no came by again drenching you in tears that stained your fears. Time goes by in a blink of an eye. You’ve heard the expression before, but it never meant more than it does right now. You think you’re in the same place – you think no big changes have been made. But I see you blind yourself to the skyscrapers you’ve filled into your pain-engraved spaces. You touch the sky in places that the airplane you hear go by cannot reach.

You’ve reached a girl you couldn’t be before. You met her right after the places you explored meant nothing anymore. Those places that seemed meant to be, the things that slid beneath you, gone before you knew it, out with the old in with the new they say. How are you supposed to know what to say when the world took almost everything away?

This is what I say to all of this… You haven’t lost yourself. Be proud of what you have to say. Now you can say you’ve fought for yourself in a way no one else could. You’ve stopped your heart from nearly ripping apart. You’ve seen the peace that passes all understanding. The fire life exploded almost burnt down the only home you had left – you. But you stopped it before you burned all the way to the bone. You’ve been saved by waters that have always wanted to save you. You’ve been saved. Don’t look away now. Go that way. The way your heart is leading. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
