To my mother, thank you for giving birth to me. Thank you for bringing me to this world. Thank you for not giving up on me when I didn’t have a chance in survival as a premature baby. Thank you for staying in a marriage that made you unhappy just for me. Thank you for all the sacrifices you made so I can always have the best clothes, have the most expensive food, go to a good school and go out and about with my friends.

Thank you for being a single mother who gave me everything from nothing. Thank you for changing my life by standing up against a society that wants to control me, belittle my worth and put my talents in a box. Thank you for working more than 12 hours a day in addition to selling your furniture and car so that I can graduate from university. And thank you for being the best thing that will ever happen to me.

Being your daughter means being blessed. Having you by my side means having an army who can’t be defeated. And being loved by you means being immortal because I’ll always live in your heart.

To my mother, thank you for the invaluable life lessons you taught me. Your wisdom taught me the meaning of happiness. Your integrity showed me the right way of doing things. Your love proved to me that real love exists. Throughout the years, you taught me how to be a strong, an independent person. You taught me how to love myself for how I am by loving me for who I am first.

You taught me how to be a kind person in a place where goodness is deemed as weakness. You taught me how to be myself in a world that constantly tries to make me the same as everyone else. And you taught me the greatest lesson of all, that love is the strongest power on this earth and with love anything is possible.

To my mother, thank you for seeing my beauty when I am at my worst.

You never gave-up on me especially when I almost gave-up on myself and you never doubted me even when I doubted myself. You never stopped seeing my potential, you never stopped loving me for who I am, you never stopped being my mother.

To my mother, I’m sorry I don’t tell you I love you enough. I’m sorry I don’t thank you enough. I’m sorry I don’t make you happy enough. You’re my biggest fan. You’re my best friend. You’re my role model. You’re my rock. You’re my guardian angel. And you’re my light at the end of the tunnel.

To my mother, if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be the person who I am. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be alive. You saved my life, not once, not twice but every time. Every day that goes by, you save me. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
