11. This videotape is freaky AF
Let me start off by saying I do not believe in ghosts or the supernatural. That being said, I worked in an old courthouse built in the 1800s in the probation department which was in the basement. My boss, the chief PO, swore it was haunted. I heard all kinds of stories from the Judges and other courthouse employees including footprints in the dusty stairwell to the clock tower when the only person who had a key was one of the Judges, and he insisted it wasn’t his footprints. He said there was one set of footprints going up the stairs, but none coming back down. Another story was a local construction company that came in to do a remodel of the courthouse and ended up refusing to work during the night hours because of weird happenings.
My story to this day makes no logical sense to me. I was at my desk when one of our security guards came in with a dvd. He looked pale and like he had just seen a ghost (GoNg!). My boss, co-workers, and a defense attorney that was in our office at the time, gathered around my computer monitor to see what was on this dvd that our security guard insisted we watch.
It was a shot of one of the cameras that faced the entrance to one of our courtrooms. If you were facing the door to the courtroom this camera would’ve been up and to your left on the wall. To the right, there was a small stairwell that led to two glass doors that went outside. The footage we were watching occurred over the weekend, the first day being Saturday at around 9:15 A.M. A fog-like mist began undulating and there was a woman, transparent, standing in front of the courtroom looking in. You could see very clearly her profile which included her brown hair, her pale face, her red blouse, and her dark colored skirt. Everyone gasped and couldn’t believe what we were seeing. It was unreal. The security guard then said “now check this out.” He clicked to Sunday morning footage, and again, around 9:15 A.M., the mist begins undulating and this woman appears. She’s still looking into the courtroom. She’s wearing the same clothing. She’s still very much transparent. Finally, Monday’s security footage shows her reappearing at the same time. A few minutes later, you see me on the camera walk through her to which someone freaked out and asked, “OMG DID YOU FEEL ANYTHING?” Of course, I didn’t. I had no idea. The defense attorney, very freaked out, asked, “WHAT DO YOU THINK SHE WANTS????” It was incredibly bizarre. The local newspaper heard about it and wanted to do a story on it, but the security guard refused to release the dvd. Smart move on his part. That would’ve been annoying.
Monday was the last day she appeared, but this time, right before she dissipated, she sharply turned her head to look at the camera. Her face was blurry, but you could see where her features were…eyes, nose, mouth. We all screamed.
That is the creepiest experience to this day I can recount, and I cannot explain at all what we witnessed.
