What You Need To Remember About Love

Romantic love has always had such a special place in my heart. Falling in love is one of the best feelings in the world and those who get to experience at its full magnitude are truly blessed. It’s fascinating, consuming, surprising, painful and sweet all at once. It’s one of the best gifts of human nature. The ability to deeply and fully develop the most heart warming and tender feelings towards a particular person is one of the best things that can happen to you and I will tell you why.

First and foremost, romantic love makes us feel so intensely and it feels good to feel. It’s as plain as that, especially when those feelings are feelings of happiness and excitement at their peak. You feel alive and you realize that someone managed to touch you to the chore. Someone managed to inhabit that heart of yours and you don’t want them to leave because they make it a more beautiful place. Someone brought out the human in you and managed bring out all the loving, caring, sweet, accepting parts of you. They make you realize the depth of your heart and your immense capacity to love another being.

When we fall in love, we open our hearts to the world. We give ourselves a chance to embrace the ordinary and the extraordinary. This can really be a healing and life transforming process because we are giving ourselves a chance to experience life in all its shades without shying away from it. We finally walk in the doors that we constantly locked up. You might find yourself taking more risks, trying out new things and being more honest. When you fall in love, you finally face yourself and you can’t run away. You learn so much about yourself when you’re in love because you have to deal with and navigate your powerful feelings and thoughts. You learn who you are, what you like and don’t like, your needs and your weaknesses. It’s all thrown at you. It heals you, changes you and hopefully makes you more emotionally mature.

Romantic love has the capacity to inspire us beyond measure. It inspires art all over the world. It’s this universal feeling that inspires songs, movies and poetry. It’s a feeling that surprises you and brings out the creative in you. It makes you see the world differently-in a more romantic way. You might fall in love with sunsets or enjoy the taste of food like never before. You might transcend every time you listen to a beautiful piece of music. When you fall in love, you fall in love with the whole world.

They say, we fall in love with those who make us fall in love with ourselves. We fall in love with those who bring out the best in us, the parts we never knew existed. Think about that for a second, when we fall in love we fall in love 3 times. We fall in love with the person, with the world, and finally with ourselves. Love is supposed to help you heal, understand yourself and rise. It is supposed to add meaning and compassion. Love softens you.

But, there’s one thing you need to know. Love is not just sustained through the feeling. It is sustained by making that beautiful connection with that special person in your life a priority. It is sustained by a choice to work with that person as a team to overcome whatever your might face, in hard times more than the good times. Love fortifies over time, it fortifies the more you build it up together.

You build it up through being consistent with the little things. The small acts of care, always trying to understand, by consistently trying to support, honor, respect and open up to the person you are with. It is fortified the more you choose to be their best friend every single day and they do the same too. Love is sustained when you choose each other at the end of a hard day because as long as you are together, you will make it work.
