When celebrities use Twitter, it can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, they’re able to create a faux personal relationship with their fans and enhance their brand and marketability. Whenever I read fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld’s Twitter, I get wildly insecure and start to feel like he’s judging me from the other side of the computer. He rarely tweets (it seems almost beneath him) but when he does, it’s clear, succinct and cutting, which makes sense considering he makes Anna Wintour look cute and cuddly.
