Laid

Peacock

Funny, outrageous, quirky, and heartfelt. Laid poses the wild conundrum of “what would you do and how would you feel if all your exes started dying in random, surprising, and totally different ways…?” At first you would think, ah, weird coincidence, right? But at what point would you stop dead in your tracks and think okay… WHY is this happening? How is this connected to me?! Laid follows Ruby Yao, played by Stephanie Hsu, from Everything, Everywhere, All At Once, a 33-year-old single woman who desperately wants to find love and connection. Ruby has had her fair share of love and heartbreak and leaves behind a long string of former lovers and old flames. Imagine her surprise when each and every one of them starts dying, some by car accident, cancer, a foul baseball to the temple, as well as other freak accidents. Laid is witty, mysterious, contagiously silly, and a must watch.

Mrs. Davis

Peacock

Mrs. Davis is absolutely one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time. It is hilarious, heartwarming, absurd, and completely unique. Mrs. Davis, follows a nun named Sister Simone, played by Betty Gilpin, who makes a deal with a powerful and dangerous artificial intelligence known as Mrs. Davis. In this deal and in order to destroy and shutdown Mrs. Davis and save the world, Simone is catapulted into a world of mystery, religious conspiracies, secret societies, and urban legends as she searches for the Holy Grail. Oh, and to make things even more interesting, Simone must team up with her ex-boyfriend, Wiley, played by Jake McDorman, who is now the leader of a wildly chaotic underground resistance movement dedicated to stopping Mrs. Davis. The plot of Mrs. Davis is insane and ridiculous, but at the same time is incredibly pointed and relevant.

We Are Lady Parts

Peacock

We Are Lady Parts is a dazzling, rocking, witty, silly, heartfelt, and passionate show. This show oozes thoughtful, rich, and real characters that are funny, complicated, and incredibly talented. We Are Lady Parts follows the ups and downs of a Muslim female punk band, called Lady Parts, specifically seen through the perspective of Amina Hussein, played by Anjana Vasan, who becomes the band’s surprising pick as lead guitarist. This is one show you absolutely do not want to miss. Oh, and bonus, the music is awesome!
