This Is The Kind Of Person You’re Always Attracted To (But Aren’t Meant To Be With), Based On Your Zodiac Sign

Aries

(March 21st to April 19th)

The person who submits to you.

Something odd about Aries is that they always seem to be attracted to people who are just a little bit beneath them. It usually has to do with confidence (they set the bar low so they can feel amazing when they know they’re worshipped by their partner) or their natural propensity to teach and lead. Regardless, Aries will drive themselves into madness trying to figure out why they are never really happy in a relationship with someone who seems to fit the bill for what they want. It’s not until they realize that what they really want is someone to lead beside them, not to take on the teacher/parent role with their significant other.

Taurus

(April 20th to May 21st)

The person who is miles out of your league.

Tauruses become intensely interested in anyone they think is interesting and chic and smart and attractive. In fact, they want to befriend, date and marry people who they perceive to be an upgrade in social status, and end up very disappointed when they discover their relationship was built on illusions and ideas. Tauruses get super swept away by people who seem like they have it all together, but with whom they have no real chemistry. The spoiler alert here is that they don’t actually like these people, they like some aspects of how they put themselves together.

Gemini

(May 22nd to June 21st)

The person who won’t commit to you.

If a Gemini needs anything in life, they need someone who is grounded, logical and not afraid of commitment. For a Gemini to really feel secure and loved and steady in a relationship, they need to know they’re with someone who can withstand all of their moods, opinions and dreams. However, Geminis often find themselves entangled with people who are just too all over the place, and who make them feel even worse about themselves than before. They never consider the more practical side of love, which is that you have to use your heart and your head.

Cancer

(June 22nd to July 22nd)

The person who you only love the idea of.

Cancers are not usually known for being dreamers, but when you really think about it, they are super emotional and idealistic, and they tend to be drawn to people who they just think they “click” with, without too much consideration for the logistics of whether or not their relationship works in reality. Cancers spend a lot of their lives caught up on people who they don’t actually love as much as they think they do. They tend to see and hope for the best in people, and totally disregard the fact that things aren’t working the way they really wanted to believe they would.

Leo

(July 23rd to August 22nd)

The person who challenges you.

As a Leo, there are few things sexier than when someone comes along and makes you feel challenged and a little bit controlled. As someone who is always so self-sufficient and independent, that dynamic is very appealing to you, but completely and totally impractical in reality. You need someone who complements you, not someone with whom you engage in a constant power struggle. There’s a difference between someone who challenges you to be better and someone who challenges your patience and self-worth. You’re looking for the former, not the latter.

Virgo

(August 23rd to September 22nd)

The person who doesn’t “get” you.

Virgos crave to be understood and accepted, and like to be in control of their lives in general. Nothing sets all of that off its axis quite like the kind of person that Virgos tend to find themselves attracted to – the ones that just totally misunderstand them, question their motives and habits, and make them feel like they are crazy for feeling the way they do. The combination is toxic, but Virgos keep going back because they want to “conquer” in some way. Virgos become easily paranoid, and not being someone who trust them is not a good combo.

Libra

(September 23rd to October 22nd)

The person you only love because they love you.

Libras are so dependent on love being in their lives, they will actually start to prioritize how much people give over how they really feel. This is a total miscalculation on their part, though, and backfires immensely, because they won’t really feel loved by someone they don’t feel connected to in the first place. When the relationship starts to falter, Libras will become more and more obsessed with trying to get a circle to fit into a square, and will hold relentlessly to their ideas of who their “true love” is. Unfortunately, this is usually the signal that some soul-searching needs to happen, and then that explosive love can come along – only when it will be reciprocated both ways.

Scorpio

(October 23rd to November 22nd)

The person you think is “better than you.”

Scorpios are truly masochists through and through, and often find themselves attracted to the exact kind of people they know will reject them in the end. There’s almost something intriguing and challenging about being with someone they aren’t sure they can get to commit, and it makes them feel confident and desirable to be seen with someone they think is out of their league. Ultimately, they’ll self-sabotage the relationship because no healthy coupledom is going to be born out of feeling like you’re the lesser of the two.

Sagittarius

(November 23rd to December 21st)

The person who intrigues you, but evades you.

Sagittarians will go the ends of the earth chasing anything that intrigues them. They are the sign known for introspection, dry humor, and deep interest in random if not obscure topics. Their interests in relationships really don’t vary from this too much, and they often find themselves interested in people who are significantly different from them in some way. They want to feel completed and engaged by them, but the thing is that they have to be with someone who actually wants the things that they do, too. It can’t all be random and elusive interest, there has to be some practicality, too.

Capricorn

(December 22nd to January 20th)

The person who doesn’t need you.

Capricorns are always attracted to people who are independent, quit witted, driven and entrepreneurial, all things that they wish they could embody more of themselves. However, it results in them often ending up with people who simply don’t need or really want to have them around. They are magnets for egotistical types who need more comforting or support than they do love and a relationship. Capricorns need to find their own sense of freedom and ability rather than seeking it out in someone else, and that often requires going a bit against their natural tendency to be stubborn-minded and averse to change.

Aquarius

(January 21st to February 18th)

The person who you see yourself in.

Aquarians are so genuinely intrigued by those who they think are like them, except more extreme. If you want to know what an Aquarian thinks about themselves, look at their partner. If they think they’re smart, they’ll be attracted to a genius, if they think they’re classy, they’ll be attracted to a European, if they think they are a hot mess, they will be attracted to an even bigger hot mess. Aquarians like to project when it comes to love, and often find themselves smitten with someone who they are totally incompatible with in the end.

Pisces

(February 19th to March 20th)

The person who is a muse to you.

Pisces fall in love and then stay in love with the people who inspire them to create and feel and cry and all of those things that Pisces love so much. They are constantly looking for the next person to pique their interest and rock their worlds. Pisces will give anything and everything to the people that they love. They are passionately devoted and wear their hearts on their sleeves. This leads them to lose interest when they need to commit, and commit when they need to realize things aren’t going to work out after all. Pisces need a dose of logical, rational thinking when it comes to love – otherwise they are destined to spend the rest of their lives chasing the person who captured their hearts, but they could never really be with in the end.
