The setup is brutal: teenage boys must walk without stopping — or be executed. The trailer leans hard into the teen-dystopia vibe, proudly highlighting the filmmakers’ Hunger Games credentials. 

King wrote The Long Walk while still in college, years before Carrie, and its stripped-down horror shows his early genius. You may have even read it for school, which was the case for many angsty teens and the required reading that they’d normally ignore.

With a gut-punch premise and a young ensemble cast of rising stars, The Long Walk looks ready to become King’s next cult classic. The Long Walk is set to release in theaters on September 12, 2025.
