Everything We Know About ‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 So Far (Big News For Benedict Fans)

Bridgerton fans were left with many questions after Season 3 ended just a few months ago. While we all collectively swooned over the Episode 4 carriage scene and likely screamed in giddy surprise over a few of the reveals of Part 2, we ended the season wondering what the next one had in store. After all, with the focus on Penelope and Colin for Season 3, the show is no longer following the same progression as the books. And with some LGBT-friendly changes for both Benedict and Francesca Bridgerton, will the next season even follow the books at all? Luckily, we have some answers today. And, thankfully, they’re pretty spoiler-free (aside from a few Season 3 nuggets). Read on, you gorgeous Bridgerton fans.

Who is the focus of Bridgerton Season 4?

It’s official: Season 4 is all about Benedict Bridgerton. The unendingly handsome, sensitive, and hilarious man who can’t handle even the idea of commitment will finally meet his match. The official Bridgerton Instagram page posted this today:

They said in the caption: “Esteemed members of the Ton, it is with great joy that we inform you that Bridgerton Season 4 is officially in production,” along with great photos of both Benedict and his lady love. This is righting the book-to-season trajectory that got flipped last season. In the books, Benedict’s story was in book 3 and Penelope/Colin’s in book 4 while the show had it the other way around. Perhaps this means we’ll be seeing the following seasons in the correct order as well? (By the way, Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha are looking hot in those promo photos. Speaking of which…)

Who is the love interest in Bridgerton Season 4?

I don’t want to give too much away for the actual plot of the next season, but we haven’t met Benedict’s love interest within the show yet. She’ll be new for Season 4. Meet Yerin Ha, playing

But what about Benedict’s sexuality?

Some may have been expecting Benedict’s official season-long romance story to be queer. After all, he realized he had feelings for all genders at the end of Season 3. Alas, Shondaland decided not to gender-bend his official book love interest. This doesn’t go against last season’s awakening, though. Benedict loves everyone, after all. Those who were hoping for a queer story will just have to wait.

When does Bridgerton Season 4 come out?

While we don’t have an official release date yet, we could make some guesses. With the photos released today, September 16, 2024, they’re also announcing that they’ve only just begun filming the season. Last season it took just under two years from the moment they started filming Season 3 to the day it was released. If they have the same timeline for Season 4, we may not get to see Benedict and Sophie’s love story until mid-2026. (And the crowd goes “Boo.”)

Until then, you can re-watch the previous season on Netflix. You could even do the Polin-only re-watch as outlined here for a little extra fun: How To Watch Bridgerton Season 1 And 2 Just For Colin And Penelope.
