This Is What It Means To Have Faith

Faith is knowing that you are a part of the universe and of a plan even bigger than the universe.

Faith is not the absence of fear or doubts. Faith is the confidence that things will work out even if you are in the middle of a storm.

Sure, you don’t know how much damage this storm will cause but you have confidence that you will be able to handle it. Faith is knowing that you have strength and that this strength does not come from your status, bank balance, education or lifestyle. It comes from something that is the very fiber of your being; the very fiber of your soul. Faith is knowing that this strength is enough to face the battles of life and that the dormant energy inside you can be awaken anytime you need.

Faith is knowing that you are a part of the universe and of a plan even bigger than the universe.

Sure, things don’t make sense right now or look promising in the near future and you have no idea what is happening and how it is a part of the plan but you still choose to exercise faith. You know you are made of the same elements that this universe is made of; you are made of stardust. You have faith that the universe will never betray its brethren. And so, even if something you truly want is denied to you, you have faith in your heart that it wasn’t good for you in the long run and that something better is waiting for you around the corner.

Faith is knowing that we all have a part to play in this world.

Some might be playing a bigger role and leading a nation to its freedom from oppression while others might be working hard day and night to feed their families and give a better life to their children. Faith is knowing that no matter how big or small your role is in this world, it is an important role. You are a piece to a big puzzle and without you the puzzle will never be solved.

Faith is knowing that nothing is constant in life.

Seasons change, people change, day changes to night and night changes to day. Faith is adapting to these changes. Faith is believing that while these changes cause a lot of inconveniences they are necessary to keep life going. Life is nothing but change. Faith is accepting that nothing and no one stays with you forever and yet choosing to live every moment to the fullest in spite of this realization.

Faith is knowing that separations, heartbreak and pain can be beautiful too.

They teach you how vulnerable we are as humans. They ignite emotions inside you that never knew existed before. They make you do things that you never thought you’d do for anyone. Faith is giving up and letting go even though it kills you to do so. You know that the beauty of this episode and these emotions that exist within you will be lost if you don’t. And so, you give up because somethings, some people and some memories are cherished because we never had the chance to make them ours. Faith is the realization that even with a storm of emotions brewing inside you and the sound of your shattering heart echoing all around, you will be ok.

Above all, faith is knowing that faith is nothing but self-confidence and that as long as you have confidence in yourself, you will do just fine. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
