This Is How I Fell Out Of Love With You

I nodded and I hummed while you were venting about your day, but I wasn’t listening, and the worst part is you never knew that I wasn’t. I have been absent from conversations for so long now, but you never seemed to notice, and that left me wondering, Did you ever even notice my presence?

I started losing my love for you when I realized that you only noticed my physical presence, but you never seemed to notice my absence in conversations or my emotional and mental absence in general.

I started slowly falling out of love with you when I started realizing that no matter what I did or how much I gave you, it was never enough, and it never would be.

I started to lose more of my love for you after every single conversation with you that left me feeling worse about myself.

I started loving you a little less every time I came to you excited about something and you made me lose that excitement.

I started loving you a little less every time I filtered my words around you.

I started loving you a little less every time I was so proud of something but couldn’t share it with you because I was afraid you would belittle it.

I started loving you a little less every time I had to be someone else around you.

I started losing more of my love for you every time I couldn’t act dumb or stupid around you.

I started losing more of my love for you every time I felt like I couldn’t let my guard down and be vulnerable with you.

I started losing more of my love for you every time I told you something deep and intimate about me and you judged me for it.

I started losing more of my love for you when I felt more trapped than free while I was with you.

I kept slowly losing my love for you every time I realized that you made me feel weak or helpless.

I didn’t lose my love for you all of a sudden. I kept losing it bit by bit till it was all gone at the end. I kept slowly losing it, and it left me wondering how fell in love with you in the first place.
