Don’t Underestimate Someone’s Ability To Take You Off Their Pedestal

Don’t Underestimate Someone’s Ability To Take You Off Their Pedestal

Don’t underestimate someone’s ability to take you off their pedestal no matter how long you’ve been on it. Don’t underestimate their ability to make this decision in the blink of an eye. Don’t underestimate someone’s ability to take you off their pedestal when they’ve had enough.

Don’t underestimate someone’s ability to take back all their love and set new boundaries with you because putting someone on a pedestal is a choice and taking them off is also a choice. We choose who is worthy of our love, our time and attention and who is not and sometimes the lines can be blurred but once we realize that someone doesn’t belong up there, once we realize that they’re not putting us on a pedestal too, we knock them off without hesitation.

It’s not hard to take someone off a pedestal, it’s not hard to put people in their places and it’s not hard to relegate someone back to where they were when you first met; a friend, an acquaintance or a stranger.

It’s sometimes the easiest thing to do when this person shows you who they really are and what you mean to them because we blew them up in our heads to be this amazing person, we thought they had the best potential and we’re the ones who deemed them as ‘one of a kind’ or ‘irreplaceable’ but the truth is all it takes is a shift in perspective, a shift in our thoughts to realize that this person is ordinary. That our lives are complete and we are whole with or without them. That whatever value we thought they added to our lives was just our way of convincing ourselves that they deserve to be on that pedestal.

Don’t underestimate someone’s ability to look you in the eye and feel nothing after feeling everything. Don’t underestimate someone’s ability to treat you the same way you treat them without feeling guilty about it and don’t underestimate someone’s ability to stop trying, stop giving, stop tolerating your lies and stop prioritizing you. Don’t underestimate someone’s ability to wither away when you don’t nurture their heart and when you don’t water your connection to make it bloom. Don’t underestimate someone’s ability to leave and never look back.

Don’t underestimate someone’s ability to take you off their pedestal because once they do, you will never be able to visit that pedestal again, this will no longer be your place no matter how hard you try, you won’t be able to have that kind of access again and you won’t be able to reach that high again because normally the people who put you on a pedestal at some point believed wholeheartedly in you and you don’t know how hard it is for people to hold you in high regard only to dethrone you later.

If you made someone reach a point where they have no other choice but to take you off their pedestal, it means they have tried to keep you up there for as long as they can and they tried not to lose you but eventually losing you was the best choice. The only choice. Don’t underestimate someone’s ability to knock you off their pedestal and put themselves back up there instead.
