Why We Have To Believe That The Best Is Yet To Come

“What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven’t even happened yet.” — Anne Frank

It’s easy to feel distressed or anxious about the future when you don’t have a clear direction of where you’re going and you’re not very fond of your past. You worry that your life will continue to unfold with the same old pattern that’s troubling you.

While it’s easier to predict more of the same, we have to somehow believe that the best is yet to come, that we’re still here learning and growing so we can make better decisions that will lead to a better future.

If you’ve been single for a long time or you had just gotten out of a bad relationship, you have to believe that something good is on the way, something better is on the way, something you’ve been waiting and wishing for and something that you actually deserve.

If you’re unemployed or you hate your job, you have to believe that your career will take off eventually, you’ll get one step closer to your dream job or you’ll finally muster up the courage to follow your passion or find your calling.

If you’ve been living in depression and darkness because of a personal tragedy, you have to believe that there is a way out, that there is more to life than despair, that hope still exists and you have to dig deeper to find it.

We were never promised an easy life and we weren’t taught how to deal with life’s setbacks in school but we can teach ourselves how to survive, we can choose to see the silver lining when life gets hard.

Because if we just open ourselves to the possibility that maybe all those bad times were part of the lessons we had to learn to pass the test, to see the light, to believe in magic, then maybe we can find it.

Maybe some things aren’t supposed to make sense to us because bigger things are awaiting us that will also take us by surprise.

Maybe we should believe that greatness, happiness and love await us because we deserve it, because we’ve already experienced enough pain and heartbreak.

They say if you can change your perspective, you can change your life and since we can’t go back and fix the past, maybe we should forget about it and change the way we see the future.

Maybe it’s not another cliché, maybe we are supposed to leave all the bad things behind because better things are coming.  Thought Catalog Logo Mark
