Maybe We Should Let Time Take Its Time

Time is a funny concept. The more you care about it, the more it eludes you, the more you wait for it, the longer it feels and the more you race against it, the more you lose.

Time doesn’t wait for anyone and it doesn’t really care about your plans or your dreams or even if you have to be in a certain place at a certain hour. Time just ticks and goes by, unfazed by the millions of people rushing to meet someone they love, running to catch a flight or those who are waiting for a miracle, waiting for a promotion, waiting for a lover to come back or just waiting for their time to shine.

But there’s also a time of clarity, when the dots connect, when all the waiting makes sense, when all the pain subsides and time suddenly becomes your friend. Time becomes the one that saves you, it becomes the wake up call that you needed after going through the maze of confusion, doubt and frustration.

And all the time you spent worrying about time was ultimately a waste of time.

Because time is on your side, even the wrong time is on your side. The wrong time leads you to the right time, the wrong time makes you appreciate timing, the wrong time reassures you that you just can’t control time even if the odds are in your favor.

And maybe time is all in our heads, it’s how we consciously perceive it — time remains the same but it’s our experiences that shape it.

Time flies when you’re having a good time and slows down when you’re in a contemplative state or meditating or thinking about your future and sometimes it feels like forever when you’re going through a difficult time.

But the only thing I know for sure, is that as crazy as time may seem, as evil and conniving as it may look, it still has time for each one of us. It has a span for your breakthrough and it has a period with just your name on it, when everything aligns exactly how you wanted them to giving you exactly what you’ve been waiting for.

Your time will come and your moment will come but instead of wasting time waiting for it, maybe you should embrace the uncertainty of time and let it takes its time shaping our lives the way it was destined to be. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
