Dramione Fanfic ‘Manacled’ Adaptation, ‘Alchemised’, Drops Tomorrow, $3M Movie Deal In The Works

If we’ve learned anything from franchises like The Twilight Saga and Fifty Shades that got their start as fan-fiction (the former literally inspired the later), it’s time to start showing these writers and their genre a little more respect. Hollywood certainly is.

You may have heard the term ‘Dramione’ floating around the internet—the title given to a specific subset of Harry Potter inspired fan-fiction that pairs characters Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy as a romantic couple.

Though these two couldn’t stand each other in the original text, these fan rewrites have created a fandom all their own, scoring authors like SenLinYu a book deal (they had to rewrite the story to avoid copyright infringement) and now a movie deal.

This reimagined version of their viral fanfic Manacled is being published by Del Rey as Alchemised, which officially releases tomorrow, September 23. The main character (based on Hermione Granger) is named Helena Marino, an alchemist who has lost her memories and is imprisoned by necromancers after a war against resistance fighters.

It already has a 4.6 star rating on Goodreads, and is rated a #1 Best Seller on Amazon in their ‘Action & Adventure Fanstasy’ category.
