Netflix’s New Dating Show ‘Pop The Balloon LIVE’ Is Premiering Tonight (4/10)
The streaming giant successfully broke into the dating show category, long dominated by decades-old franchises like The Bachelor, with original titles including Love Is Blind, Too Hot To Handle, Love On The Spectrum, and more. They’ve also been leaning into live sporting events, generating massive buzz with their Tyson-Paul matchup. Tonight, these two worlds collide as Netflix launches their first ever live dating show, Pop The Balloon LIVE.
Airing Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, the competition will adapt the set-up of the viral YouTube series where contestants tout a red balloon and a toothpick while being introduced to eligible bachelors and bachelorettes. If the contestants are not interested in a date with that single, they can pop the balloon and opt out of the competition, sharing their rationale for why they don’t see a match.
Promotions have promised a new spin on the format with higher stakes, as well as celebrity appearances from Johnny Bananas (The Challenge), Chase DeMoor (Too Hot to Handle), Farrah Abraham (Teen Mom), and Zaina Sesay (The Ultimatum). The series will be hosted by actress and comedian Yvonne Orji of Insecure.
