‘Honey Don’t’ Faint—Aubrey Plaza And Margaret Qualley Are Starring In A Queer Detective Comedy

By

The next installment in husband-wife duo Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke’s “lesbian B-movie trilogy” after 2024’s Drive Away Dolls, Honey Don’t, is headed to theaters this summer, and will star none other than Aubrey Plaza and Margaret Qualley.

Qualley will play lesbian private detective Honey, who is investigating a cult leader played by Chris Evans. Plaza is being touted as a ‘mysterious woman’ in PR released to date, and the secrecy is almost more than we can bear. The queer community would literally lose its mind to see these two A-list actresses as romantic interests, but we’ll just have to see if the plot will deliver us the ultimate dream pairing.

Openly bi-sexual, Plaza has always had an interesting relationship with fans who express their attraction for the actress in unconventional ways. She jokes about these “thirst traps”, and even read some fan tweets saying, “90% of of these are going to be people telling me they want me to run them over”. Whether it’s her Criminal Minds cameo, her Parks and Recreation snark, her time on The White Lotus or Agatha All Along that draw people in, Plaza’s fandoms don’t take their love for her lightly.

Qualley on the other hand, has made a name for herself with performances in Maid, The Substance, Once Upon A Time…in Hollywood, and Poor Things, not to mention her high profile marriage to producer Jack Antonoff that touted celebs like Taylor Swift in attendance at their wedding.

With two huge names who have prior experience either being queer or playing queer characters, a mainstream blockbuster distributer like Focus Features, and a midnight screening debut at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, what more can we ask for? We will literally be salivating until the event of the summer arrives.

In seasons of tireless waiting, we tend to rely on ourselves, believing we aren’t equipped or strong enough to endure the challenges before us. Yet there’s a profound difference in how we approach hope. Rather than […]
