There’s something for everyone this week on Netflix, whether you’re life-long stand-up fan, die-hard reality buff, crime loving thrill-seeker, rom-com softie, or period drama girlie. Check out each of the titles below to find your perfect fit.
Chelsea Handler: The Feeling (3/25)
Beloved comedian Chelsea Handler, who just rang in her 50th birthday last month, is back with her third stand up special for Netflix. Promotional materials promise bits on Handler’s “own birth, unexpected encounters, her adolescent business ventures and a frenzy of ill-timed events all motivated by ‘the feeling'”.
Caught (3/26)
Netflix has a proven track record adapting Harlan Coben novels into series for streaming audiences, but Caught marks their first endeavor to do it for a Spanish-speaking audience. Transporting the original New Jersey setting to Argentina, the thriller follows journalist Ema Garay as she investigates the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl.
Million Dollar Secret (3/26)
Million Dollar Secret brings elements of beloved board game Clue to the tried and true formulas of reality TV’s Survivor, Traitors, and The Mole. One of twelve contestants within a luxurious estate is the secret millionaire and must conceal their identity in order to keep the money, while the rest of the players work to expose them and win it for themselves.
Gold & Greed: The Hunt for Fenn’s Treasure (3/27)
This three-part docuseries delves into the hunt for a treasure chest hidden in the Rocky Mountains by art collector Forest Fenn in 2010. The clues to its location were hidden in a poem, reminiscent of Byron Preiss’ The Secret, and lives are upended and even lost, as over 300,000 participants vie for the chance to make history by finding the treasure.
The Life List (3/28)
Adapted from Lori Nelson Spielman’s eponymous novel, The Life List is a film that follows a young woman on a quest to complete a bucket list she wrote as a teenager at the behest of her recently deceased mother (played by Connie Britton) who has chosen to communicate via a series of pre-recorded DVDs.
The Lady’s Companion (3/28)
Nadia de Santiago, of Netflix’s Cable Girls, returns to the streamer as 19th century chaperone, Elena Bianda, a woman with a proven track record of shepherding her charges into suitable, if not advantageous, marriages. A stickler for the rules and principal of propriety, Elena runs into trouble when she and one of her client’s suitors begin a romance.
