When You're Ready To Receive Them, These Words Are For You

When You’re Ready To Receive Them, These Words Are For You

These are the words to help you heal. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Feel the air fill your lungs, and feel it rush out. Can you hear your heartbeat? Can you feel your breath? Do you see how alive you are? Your heart is still beating, and you are still breathing. You’re not broken, you’re just hurting right now – and it’s ok to hurt. It’s ok to feel. Letting yourself feel is the first step in healing. Letting yourself feel is how you learn, and let go, and begin again.

These are the words to help you focus. Is the world getting to be too much? Are you unsure of what you want or where you are headed? Turn off your phone. Grab a real piece of paper. Go outside. Sit on a bench, or a park table, or under a tree, or on your front lawn. Now close your eyes, and think about what you want, think about what’s pressing on your heart. Open your eyes and write it all down. Circle the things that make your heart skip a beat. Start building from those circles.

These are the words to remind you that you are in control. There is so much that we cannot control in life, this is true. But there is also so much we can control. You can control what you eat, what you drink, how much you move your body. You can control who you listen to, who you surround yourself with, and who you let into your circle. You can control the media and news you consume. You make choices every day that shape the life you are leading – please remember that. Please make an effort to choose wisely, and please remember to forgive yourself when you make a choice that doesn’t serve you well. Every day, hour, and minute is an opportunity to choose again.

These are the words to help you remember that you are lovable. I don’t care how many horrible things your ex-lover told you – they’re wrong. You are worthy of a love that sticks. You are worthy of a love that lifts you up, one that sees your shadows and your light and still loves all of you. You are worthy of a love that is rooted in laughter, honesty, and joy. You have a heart that is huge and beautiful, and you deserve someone that has the capacity to love you right back. That person is out there, and you will find them. Remember that you are lovable, even with all of your quirks, and failures, and sensitivities. Do not believe the lie that tells you differently. Do not believe that you have to settle for a love that doesn’t fill your heart and soul with joy. You will find that kind of love, and that kind of love will find you.
