What ‘I Love You’ Really Means
He told you he loved you and then he broke your heart.
But after he broke your heart he still said he loved you.
What does that mean?
He begged for you to stay but you could tell he just felt guilty.
He promised he wanted you but then after a few weeks he suddenly got distant.
Then you got mad at yourself for not following your instinct.
I love you means you love and think about the person before you decide to fuck up.
I love you isn’t about owning you or turning you into property.
I love you is about finding someone and being excited to choose them everyday.
I love you isn’t about saying what you think the other person wants to hear.
I love you means you always tell the truth, no matter what.
It looks like three simple words, a phrase we’re supposed to say 6 months, 8 months, 12 months into a new relationship.
But it’s the actions that speak louder than these three silly words.
You use it as a cover, something you think you’re supposed to say.
But when you say it it’s a distraction because all you want to do is stray.
If you think someone is cheating on you, you’re nearly always right.
But then they tell you they love you and that’s supposed to make it alright?
I know, I know, it’s just three little words.
But why even say them if we don’t even really mean it?
Don’t make an empty promise, give your heart and soul instead.
Do we even know what love is?
We always want to be told I love you, especially when we really love someone.
But when the love is real you don’t even need to say it.
I love you means I choose you every day.
I love you means you don’t necessarily have to say it all the time because I love you isn’t just words: it’s a feeling in your gut.
I love you means I believe in you at every step of the way, that I support you and am there for you, mind, body and spirit.
I love you means that when I look at you I feel at home.
I love means I don’t need you to be perfect.
I love you means I need you to be you.
I love you means I’m lucky to have you.
I love you means we’re in this together.
I love you.
I know.
