Don’t Settle Until You Find Someone Who Loves You Like This

Don’t settle. Don’t settle even if he or she seems perfect to you on paper. Don’t settle for someone just because they are gorgeous. Don’t settle for anything less than what your gut is telling you. Don’t settle for the rich, when their hearts don’t match the amount of money they make. Don’t settle for anyone who doesn’t make your heart feel held.

I settled once. Why? Because I wanted a boyfriend. Because I was lonely. Because I wanted attention. Because he had a nice face. And he was kind and he had a good on his shoulders. But it wasn’t love. No, not even close.

I wasted those months of my life putting on a facade. Sure, I liked him, but I knew in my gut and in my heart that he wasn’t the one for me.

And please know from my experience, it isn’t worth it.

If you feel lonely, take more time to spend with your family and friends. If you are sad, talk to someone. If you want to fall in love, first fall for yourself.

You don’t have to go chasing someone who you know deep down is not the right person. And as much as it isn’t fair to you, it isn’t fair to the persons whose time you are wasting.

Don’t involve an innocent person in your battle against your loneliness. Don’t involve someone who could genuinely care about you, while you are just hiding it from everyone including yourself. Don’t break someone else’s heart just to feel better about yourself for a few months.

It’s not worth it.

You need to find the strength inside yourself to wait. No matter how long it takes. No matter how many of your friends get married. No matter how far behind you feel. Don’t settle until you know in your gut that it’s right. That it’s real. That it’s true. Because when that happens, you won’t be settling at all. You’ll just feel safe and warm and comforted. Because you’ll know in your heart, that you’ve finally found the right person to be with. So you won’t be settling, you’ll be choosing and deciding.

Don’t ever settle for someone who isn’t right for you. And it doesn’t matter how good looking they are. It doesn’t matter how nice they are. It doesn’t matter how many gifts they shower you with. It doesn’t matter how much money that make. This is your life. This is your future. So don’t you dare mess with fate. Don’t you dare settle for something just because it’s the thing people think you should do.

Wait.

I promise you, it will be worth all the lonely nights when you cried yourself to sleep in search of spending forever with someone. I promise, it will be worth all the heartache and pain. Wait. And I guarantee, when you find the person that you are meant to be with, you’ll be so grateful you did. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
