With Christmas and New Year’s celebrations fading in our rearview mirrors, the next major (ultra-commercialized) holiday on the horizon is Valentine’s Day. So, whether you’ve got a special someone to head to the movies with or you like wallowing in your loneliness while watching others fall head over heels in love, here are some must-see romance flicks to look forward to in 2024.

‘Beautiful Wedding’ | January 24, 2024

Beautiful Wedding sees Dylan Sprouse and Virginia Gardner reprise their roles in the sequel to the 2023 film Beautiful Disaster. After a crazy night in Las Vegas, Abby and Travis discover they have tied the knot. So, they head to Mexico for a honeymoon with their friends and family. Will they fight for their love? Will they defy the odds when it comes to Las Vegas weddings, or will they wind up with an annulment? The rom-com also stars Steven Bauer, Rob Estes, Libe Barer, Austin North, and Neil Bishop. Roger Kumble (Cruel Intentions, The Sweetest Thing, After We Collided) directs with a script based in part on the novel by Jamie McGuire.

‘It Ends With Us’ | February 9, 2024

Based on the novel of the same name by Colleen Hoover, It Ends With Us is a rom-drama with comedic bits. The story follows Lily (Blake Lively) who believes she has found true love with Ryle (Justin Baldoni). However, when a painful incident triggers past trauma, she must decide whether love is enough to save her marriage. The situation only grows more complicated when former fling Atlas (Brandon Sklenar) enters the picture. Justin Baldoni serves as both a co-lead and director with a script he penned alongside Christy Hall.

‘A Family Affair’ | 2024

Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron in a rom-com! What else do you need? The Netflix original film, initially slated for a November release, has been pushed back but is still expected to premiere later this year. In the movie, an unexpected romance catalyzes cosmic consequences for a young woman, her mother, and her boss — all of whom are grappling with their identities and the meaning of love. The film from director Richard LaGravenese (Freedom Writers, Behind the Candelabra) with a script from Carrie Solomon (My Boyfriend’s Wedding) also stars Joey King, Kathy Bates, and Sherry Cola.

‘The Idea of You’ | May 2, 2024

Yet another romantic film with a more dramatic lean than a comedic one, The Idea of You stars Anne Hathaway and Red, White & Royal Blue star Nicholas Galitzine in a steamy story that begins with a series of clandestine rendezvous but transforms into something much deeper.

Hathaway plays 40-year-old single mother Solene, who chaperones her daughter to Coachella, where she happens to catch the eye of the 24-year-old lead singer of August Moon, Hayes Campbell. He is an international star. She is the refined owner of an art gallery. When their relationship becomes Page Six’s favorite topic, Solene must decide how much this relationship costs and how much she is willing to put in jeopardy. Michael Showalter (Wayland, The Big Sick) directs with a script he co-wrote alongside Jennifer Westfeldt (Friends with Kids, Ira & Abby).

‘A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow’ | 2024 (Expected)

Based on the YA bestseller by Laura Taylor Namey, A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow follows Lila (Maia Reficco), who leaves her cozy life at her Abuela’s Cuban bakery in Miami to spend the summer cooking at her Aunt’s inn in London…where she happens to meet Kit Connor’s Orion Maxwell. Katherine Fairfax Wright (Behind the Curtain: Todrick Hall, Call Me Kuchu) directs the adaptation with a script from Khala Amazan (Curses!, The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story) and Savion Einstein (The Longest Birthday, The Kiss Quotient).
