‘The Witcher’ Fans React to Season 3 — What Keeps Them Watching

Are ‘The Witcher’ fans still watching the show for the plot, or is something else holding their attention?

The Netflix original series The Witcher, based on the novel series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowsk, follows monster hunter Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) as he navigates a fantasy world filled with supernatural creatures and political conspiring. Season one of The Witcher premiered to positive audience reviews, which applauded Cavill’s performance and the show’s unconventional yet effective storytelling methods (especially for those familiar with the books and video games). However, viewers have since grown quite disappointed with the latter seasons.

While critics have grown increasingly impressed, with the show’s latest installment earning an impressive 84% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, general audiences panned the latest entry, leading to a 44% audience score. Though audiences aren’t exactly happy with the show’s trajectory, they’re still watching…and we may have some ideas as to why based on the Twitter reactions to season 3.

The on-screen chemistry between Geralt and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) is intense!

The father-daughter bonding is just too cute

That Cavill smirk is enough to keep us watching (actually, Cavill’s face in general keeps us engaged)

Just Yennefer will do

It’s good fun (even if we’re a bit lost)

Liam Hemsworth has some big shoes to fill when he replaces Cavill in season 4

The makeup, the hair, the costumes — it’s all so beautiful

The cast is stunning
