Sabrina Carpenter And Taylor Swift Finally Make A Song Together

By

Taylor Swift has released her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. The project closes with its title track, a collaboration with pop star Sabrina Carpenter.

The duet marks the first official song between the two singers, after months of speculation among fans. It’s a beautiful moment as Sabrina Carpenter grew up covering Taylor Swift songs.

“The Life of a Showgirl” is about a woman named Kitty. She became famous. She was beautiful and smart. But fame cost her.

The Song

Sabrina Carpenter is on the last track of the new Taylor Swift album, which is named after the album.

“You don’t know the life of a showgirl, babe / And you’re never ever gonna,” Swift and Carpenter sing together.

The song says the showgirl life is hard. No one outside it understands. The song is reminiscent of Britney Spears song Lucky in that regard.

Kitty grew up rough. Her family had problems. She wanted something better. She wanted glamour. Her father cheated. Her mother took pills and played tennis.

The singer becomes like Kitty. Success leaves marks. She makes money now. She’s pretty and clever. But there are scars.

At the close of the song, Swift introduces Carpenter with affection. “Give it up for the band and the dancers, and of course, Sabrina. I love you, Taylor,” Carpenter replies on the outro. Here is the full outro, which fans are going crazy over:

Thank you for the bouquet
I’m married to the hustle
Now I know the life of a showgirl, babe
And I’ll never know another
Pain hidden by lipstick and lace
Sequins are forever
And now I know the life of a showgirl, babe
Wouldn’t have it any other way
Hey, Kitty
Now I’m making money being pretty and witty
Thank you for the bouquet

The other beloved lyric from the song: “I took her pearls of wisdom / Hung them from my neck / I paid my dues with every bruise… / All the headshots on the walls / Of the dance hall are of the bitches / Who wish I’d hurry up and die / But I’m immortal now, baby dolls…”

Big Picture

The Life of a Showgirl is Swift’s twelfth album. She changes with each one and there is no doubt this album is another massive reinvention. And this collaboration on this song with Sabrina is sure to leave people talking for the next 12 months.
