Rumors Are Feeling More Real, Insider Data Suggests Ocasio-Cortez Prepping For Higher Office (Maybe President)

By

It’s not just a rumor, it’s a rumor with some supporting evidence now.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her team are preparing for a potential 2028 run for president or U.S. Senate. How do we know?

  • Her heam has “poured millions into her already muscular digital machine,” spending more on digital ads than almost any other politician in 2025.
  • An April poll cited here showed Ocasio-Cortez leading Chuck Schumer by 19 points (55–36) in a hypothetical 2028 Democratic primary matchup.
  • AOC’s potential to outpoll Schumer in a hypothetical matchup reflects not just electoral strength, but a deeper undercurrent within the American body politic: Younger people are the future of politics.

Ocasio-Cortez has also worked to broaden her geographic and demographic reach. In a town hall in Plattsburgh, New York, she told supporters: “We are here because every town, every city, every neighborhood in this state matters. Every corner matters. No one deserves to be ignored.” Her appearances beyond her Bronx–Queens district suggest an intentional push to build the kind of statewide recognition necessary for an even more important role in politics.

Whether she runs for president or Senate, it seems like no matter what happens with AOC, she will be stepping into a more national role in American politics very soon.
