3 Of The Most Popular Season Three Fan Theories Of ‘The White Lotus’

The third season of The White Lotus, which premiered on February 16, 2025, transports viewers to a luxurious resort in Thailand, continuing the series’ tradition of the satirical exploration of affluent guests. This season delves into themes of spirituality, cultural clashes, and the dark secrets in paradise.
We are particularly interested in diving into the three top fan theories so far in the season.
So, without delay, here are the top 3 fan theories so far and our thoughts on them!
Spoilers ahead.
Laurie (Played By Carrie Coon) Is The Mother Of The White Lotus Season 2’s Portia
Fans have guessed that Laurie is Portia’s mother and that this will further connect her to Greg during the season (since Greg and Tanya were married before Tanya’s death and Portia was Tanya’s assistant). Not only have fans speculated that they look alike, but with Jaclyn and Kate’s discussion of Laurie’s daughter at the start of Episode 2, we can’t help but wonder if there is a relationship there. However, they referred to Laurie’s daughter as “Ellie” and mentioned she was a “hitter” who “threw furniture” and was “kicked out of two schools.” Whether that sounds like the Portia we know from Season 2, remains to be seen.

Saxon (Played By Patrick Schwarzenegger) Is A Virgin and Lochan (Played By Sam Nivola) is Adopted
This one has not received a lot of traction yet, but we have speculated about the Ratliff family before and know there is clear palpable tension between the siblings. Some fan theories have speculated that Lochlan isn’t related to the other Ratcliffs, while others have theorized that he is gay. However, tensions bubbled over when Lochy came up to Piper in the water and let her know Saxon said she never had sex even though “she’s so hot.” This upset Piper and she ended up abruptly leaving the water and also made a snide comment about Saxon staying out of her personal life at dinner. We think that maybe Saxon is a virgin or there is something else going on under the surface. He has been outwardly perverted, inappropriate, and sexually charged so far this season. Perhaps there is more than meets the eye? We are curious to see how these relationships and tensions play out.

Something With The Monkeys
The monkeys in Season 3 have been such a reoccurring motif it’s hard not to ignore their possible significance. In Episode 2, there were so many nature shots of monkeys in the wild as well as various statues of monkeys. Furthermore, the opening scene referenced monkeys when Jaclyn and Kate were secretly talking about Laurie and then Laurie made a sudden bang on the glass to let her in, scaring them both. Kate replied to Jaclyn after Laurie left saying, “I thought it was a monkey.” Some fans have speculated that it is a monkey that gets a hold of the gun and is responsible for the death at the end of the season. Whether Mike White would make this creative decision has yet to be seen, however, there is no doubt that the monkeys play some significant role.
