X Signs You Should Leave Your Relationship, Even Though You Love Them

7 Signs You Should Leave Your Relationship, Even Though You Love Them

1. You’ve been hiding pieces of yourself from your partner. You shouldn’t be lying to your partner or keeping secrets from them. You should feel entirely comfortable when you’re in their presence. You should feel like you can be yourself, flaws and all. If you have been holding something back from them, that’s a problem. You either need to become more transparent, or you need to consider whether you’re with the right partner.

2. You aren’t compatible with them. You should feel comfortable bantering back and forth with this person. You should feel comfortable sitting in silence with this person. You should be comfortable sleeping with this person. If you’re nervous around them for all the wrong reasons, or if you don’t feel any butterflies at all, then you might be in the wrong relationship. You might need to leave to search for someone who fits you better.

3. You have different priorities. If you can’t rise to your partner’s expectations, or they can’t rise to your expectations, then your relationship is always going to feel rocky. You need someone who is on the same page as you. They don’t have to be an exact clone, but they should have the same morals and priorities. Otherwise, you’re always going to butt heads.

4. You want someone else. You can’t stop yourself from being attracted to other people, but if you’re developing a serious crush on someone else, then you need to leave. You don’t want to cheat on your partner and you don’t want them to feel like they’re second best. If they’re not making you happy, you shouldn’t settle. You should look for love elsewhere. Otherwise, you’re doing both of you a disservice.

5. You can’t picture a future with them. If your partner is interested in a serious, long-term relationship but you can’t imagine a future where they’re involved, you should break up with them. Rip the bandage off early. You don’t want to string them along when you already know what you want. Be blunt with them. You might break their heart, but it’s better to do it now than later.

6. You feel like something is missing. Love isn’t the only thing you need in order to make a relationship work. Neither is friendship. Or passion. Or even trust and communication. You need all of these things, not just one or two. Find someone who crosses off everything on your list because when something important is missing, the relationship is bound to fail.

7. You’re seriously considering leaving your relationship. If this has been a thought in your head for a while, there must be a good reason. There must be something bothering you. You wouldn’t be thinking about leaving this often unless something was seriously wrong, so make sure you take the time to explore your feelings. Don’t push them aside. Don’t ignore them. Don’t assume they’re going to go away if you wait long enough. Allow yourself to feel them and analyze them so you can decide the best path for yourself moving forward. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
