10+ Ways To Slightly Improve Your Life Under Quarantine

In case you’ve been living under a rock, the coronavirus is happening. And it’s happening right now. However, just because you are under quarantine doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself and focus on improving your life. Even the smallest little changes can go a long way and help you create positive habits and routine adjustments. So sit back, relax, and read on to learn new ways to slightly improve your life under quarantine.

Reclaim Your Space

Take ownership of your space and redecorate, highlight new accent pieces, invest in some string lights, and clean up your clutter. You may be staying in your space longer than you hoped. It’s about time you mixed things up and committed to some redesign.

Read More Books

Remember all those times you said you would get back to reading? Well, now is your chance. With tons of great books to choose from, you have so many worlds to explore. Looking for some reading inspiration? Here are some of the best books from 2020 (so far).

Create a Bucket List

The bucket list! The bucket list! Start making a list of things you’ve always wanted to do and places you want to visit (when this quarantine is over of course). Maybe you’ve always wanted to visit the penguins in Argentina or make homemade bread? Get that on your list and eventually start checking things off.

Practice Something New

I think it’s safe to say that we have a bit more free time on our hands than we did before. With no commute and generally adjusting to social distancing life, the days seem to have more time than before. So why not practice something new? Maybe you want to try playing guitar or learn how to paint. While the world is not exactly your oyster right now, there are endless possibilities to explore at home.

Tidy Up Your Music

Make new playlists. Share your playlists. Clean up old playlists that you have just been mindlessly playing on repeat for months. Maybe you want to explore new music too. Now is an incredible time to just sit down and focus on your evolving music taste.

Reorganize

You know all those clothes in the back of your closet that you haven’t worn in months? They are dying to see the light of day, yet they sadly remain hidden. Time to clean all that out. Maybe you will find some hidden gems or better yet, maybe you can donate your clothes. Goodwill and The Salvation Army will gladly accept your donations. You can also do a quick search and find local organizations that will accept clothing donations.

Focus on Your Body

While most gyms and studios are closed, that doesn’t mean working out isn’t an option. There are so many free workout tutorials on YouTube. Cosmopolitan even listed some of the best FREE YouTube workout videos. You can also simply go for a run (some fresh air might be nice as well).

Focus on Your Mind/Soul

During these tense times, it is especially important to check in with yourself. Stress and anxiety can quickly skyrocket so make sure you are taking time each day to meditate, close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths. Check out The Calm Place by The New York Times for a quick, but important meditative break.

Dedicate Yourself To A Daily Goal

Commit yourself to a daily goal and hold yourself accountable. Carve a few minutes out of your schedule each day for your very important little goal.

Invest Time in Your Meals

Get a little creative when it comes to your cooking. The New York Times Cooking offers a free 28 day trial for new users. While you may not be able to travel right now, you can still taste new culinary dishes from around the world.

Give and Receive Movie, TV, Book, and Music Recommendations

Don’t let coronavirus ruin the gift of sharing. Now is a fantastic time to give and receive movie, TV, book, and music recommendations. Collaborate on a playlist. Start a book club. Start a new series.

Call Your Friends & Family

Call your mother.

Invest Time In Personal Development

Now is also a great time to invest in yourself and in your abilities. You could play around with coding or practice learning a language. Think about projects you want to complete and ways you can improve your skills.

Read the News

Stay informed. Read news from expert sources and stay up to date on the facts. Don’t get lost in the wave of hysteria. You are better than that.
