8 Signs You’re Dangerously Close To Burning Out

By

Even though you want to succeed, even though you have big dreams for yourself, you don’t want to push yourself so hard that you burn out. Here are a few signs that you need to slow down and take a break. Remember, your mental health matters. You shouldn’t ignore the signs that you need to relax.

You can’t handle even the slightest inconveniences.

If something small goes wrong, you feel yourself losing control. It doesn’t matter if the problem is small because every little thing that goes wrong feels like a massive disaster. You find yourself getting unreasonably angry at times, and even though you know you’re being ridiculous, you can’t stop yourself.

You’re mentally and physically exhausted.

It doesn’t matter how many hours of sleep you get per night. You never wake up feeling refreshed. You always want to hit snooze and head straight back to bed. You’re way more excited to sleep at night than to start your day in the morning.

You’re lacking motivation.

Your energy is at an all-time low, and it’s been this way for a while. Even when you’re doing something you love, you find it hard to get excited about the task at hand. You just aren’t in the mood. You have no desire to get work done. The passion that you used to have for your work is missing.

You start procrastinating.

You really don’t want to work. You would rather be sleeping. Or eating. Or doing the laundry. Or literally anything other than getting to work. You find yourself starting your day later and later. It’s hard for you to roll out of bed. Even if you didn’t hate what you were doing before, you’re starting to hate aspects of it now.

You have trouble concentrating.

You’re always zoning out and daydreaming when you’re supposed to be focusing on work. Nothing is wrong, exactly. You simply feel bleh. Your mind is in a fog. It keeps wandering and you keep making silly mistakes that you would normally pick up on right away.

You feel no sense of accomplishment.

You always feel like you should be doing more. Even when you have a super productive day, you aren’t proud of yourself. You feel no satisfaction with all your hard work. In fact, you feel like a failure. You feel like you’re never going to succeed, and aren’t sure what step comes next.

You have headaches or stomachaches brought on by work.

Your emotions are more connected to your body than you think. If you’re overstressed, you might start feeling sick. You might feel like you’re falling apart, physically and emotionally.

Crying has become an everyday thing.

You’re so frustrated by your work that you break into tears on a daily basis. You’re at a point where what you’re doing is emotionally draining you. Whether they’re tears of frustration or anger, you shouldn’t be crying every single day because of your stress. If you’re in literal tears, you need to give yourself a well-needed break.
