You Can Do Everything Right And Still Get Screwed

By

It doesn’t matter whether you do the right thing. It doesn’t matter whether you treat everyone around you with love and respect. Your hard work isn’t always going to be appreciated. There are people who will twist your words and intentions, who will come up with reasons to hate you even when you’ve done nothing wrong.

Some people are going to hate you no matter what you do. That’s why you can’t be too concerned with what others have to say about you. It doesn’t matter whether they approve of your career path or your relationships or your clothing and piercing choices. It doesn’t matter whether they are proud of everything you’ve achieved or are focused on your failures. It’s hard to ignore their rude comments and nasty looks, but you’re not going to get anywhere by trying to please people who are incapable of feeling satisfied.

Every single decision you make is going to make some people excited and others upset. It’s impossible to please everyone, which is why you should focus on pleasing the only person who matters. Yourself.

Of course, that doesn’t mean you’re allowed to treat others cruelly. You should always lead with love and kindness. But when that kindness is thrown back in your face, don’t feel too bad about the experience. Don’t assume their crappy behavior is your fault. When someone searches for reasons to criticize you, it says more about them than it says about you. And the right people will see that. They won’t listen to what this mean-spirited person has to say. They will form their own decisions about you. They will listen to common sense and reason, not water cooler gossip.

Remember, you can do everything right and still get hate. That doesn’t mean there’s no point in trying. It doesn’t mean that your actions are pointless because no matter what you do you’re always going to get the same results. It means that you should stay focused on doing what makes you happy, what brings you the most joy. It means your eyes should be on your own lane, not on anyone else’s.

Even if you’re a people pleaser who goes out of their way to make others happy, some people aren’t going to like you. Some of them will have valid reasons. Others will have bullshit ones. But it’s not up to you to make everyone else happy. As long as you’re living a life that makes you proud, as long as you can look in the mirror and be happy with the way you’re treating others, there’s nothing more you can do.

Some people will never be happy with you. Some people will search for reasons to pick fights. Some people will make it their mission to destroy your happiness because they feel like it will increase their own happiness. Those people aren’t worth your time or your energy. Their opinions mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Although words can hurt, you have to remember some words are meaningless. Some words should be ignored. Try your hardest to drown out the negative and soak in the positive.
