8 Types Of People Who Don’t Deserve Your Time Or Attention

By

People who make you feel guilty about doing what’s best for yourself.

You need to put your mental health first. If others don’t understand your needs, it’s not your problem. You can’t worry more about their happiness than your comfort. You don’t want to sacrifice your mental health in order to make others like you. Your reputation isn’t as important as your health.

People who talk shit about you on social media.

If someone has a problem with you, they should talk it through with you. They shouldn’t complain about you on social media where there are thousands of eyes watching what they say. Even if they don’t talk about you by name, it’s immature and unacceptable. You deserve better.

People who try to manipulate you into giving them what they want.

Don’t waste time with people who use guilt trips and manipulation to get their way. You should make decisions that suit you the best, not decisions that will cause the least amount of hissy fits. It’s not your job to make others happy. It’s your job to make yourself happy, and sometimes that means letting go people who are no longer serving you.

People who disrespect your boundaries.

If they disrespect your boundaries, especially after you’ve made it clear what makes you uncomfortable, they couldn’t care less about your feelings. They’re too selfish to put themselves in your shoes. They lack empathy, which means they could never understand what you’re going through. They don’t even want to try.

People who only like you when they can control you.

You’re in charge of your own decisions. Your family and friends can’t expect you to agree with them one hundred percent of the time. They can’t expect to keep you on a tight leash. You aren’t theirs to control. You have your own thoughts and opinions and dreams. If they don’t like it when you think for yourself, they don’t like you at all.

People who you need to walk on eggshells around.

You shouldn’t be afraid of what someone is going to say next. You shouldn’t be scared that one wrong move will set them off. If they’re that unpredictable and volatile, there’s no reason to waste time with them. Their good moments aren’t worth the bad ones. You’re better off surrounding yourself with people who are consistent, who will treat you well even when they’re grumpy.

People who make you fight for their approval.

You shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to make someone like you. If they won’t say hello or treat you with respect until you prove your value to them, there is a strange emotional imbalance. You deserve to be treated right because you are a living breathing being, not because you passed some ridiculous test.

People who make you want to rip out your hair.

You don’t need to be friends with everyone. You don’t need to like everyone. If someone gets on your nerves, you don’t need a reason to cut them out of your life. Just do it. You’ll be happier once they’re gone.
