Stop Procrastinating When it Comes To Your Happiness

Stop Procrastinating When It Comes To Your Happiness

Stop procrastinating when it comes to changing your life. Whether you’re breaking up with your partner or cutting out a toxic friend or quitting your current job, it’s better to rip off the bandage early than to draw out the pain and suffering. Once you’re done, you can stop worrying. You can stop overthinking. You can stop wondering what the best move to make is. You already know what you need to do. You’re simply scared to follow through on it. You’re worried about the repercussions. You’re worried about coping with the change. But if you’re not happy right now, you’re not going to be happy tomorrow. Not unless you change things. Not unless you take action.

Stop procrastinating because you can’t run from your problems. You can’t ignore them until they go away. You can’t pretend they don’t exist and you don’t have to deal with them. You’re going to have to face them eventually. It’s better to handle it now, so you can get it over with and move on with your life, than to put off the inevitable. Be strong. Be brave. Know that you can handle anything the universe throws your way. It might be sucky, but it’s survivable.

Stop procrastinating when it comes to your dreams. There’s never going to be the perfect time to ask someone on a date or move across the country or switch career paths. If you want an excuse to remain in the exact same place, then you’re going to find it. You can always come up with more reasons why you shouldn’t take the risk you’ve been dreaming about every night and day. There’s always going to be some sort of obstacle in your way, warning you it’s too hard to make a change. You can’t let outside factors influence you. You can’t keep letting yourself make excuses. You can’t let yourself wait for the perfect moment because it’s never going to arrive.

Stop procrastinating because you’re scared you’re going to fail. Maybe your crush will turn you down. Maybe your dream job won’t hire you. Maybe you’ll have a hard time reaching the success you crave. But who cares if you fail? Nothing good in life will be handed to you. The only way to get better at something is to try. No one makes it on their first try. They need to keep getting up and going again. They need to remain patient and persistent. They need to work their hardest. They need to resist the urge to give up hope.

Stop procrastinating because you’re only putting off happiness. Right now, you’re searching for more. Right now, you’re miserable. Whatever you’ve been doing hasn’t been working. Waiting hasn’t been working. So you might as well take action. You might as well take the steps to create a better, brighter future for yourself. You might as well push aside your what-ifs and take the leap. You don’t want to put off your happiness for a second longer because you deserve it. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
