When You’re Annoyed With Your Forever Person, Don’t Do These 8 Things

1. Assume they understand exactly what’s bothering you. Your person might not have the slightest idea whey you’re annoyed with them. Even if they realize it’s because they were late for your date or canceled on you, they might not know why it bothered you so much. Explain your thoughts to them. Explain your side of the story. Make sure they know exactly why you’re annoyed instead of leaving them to guess.

2. Give them the silent treatment. It’s perfectly fine to take a breather to cool down so you’re not screaming at each other, but giving them the silent treatment for days on end isn’t going to solve any of your problems. You need to communicate with them if you want to get back on the same page. You need to have an open, honest conversation.

3. Bring up everything they’ve ever done wrong. Focus on one issue at a time. If you’re annoyed with them about how long it took to text back, have a conversation about that. Don’t let the conversation turn into a reason to bash them for every mistake they’ve made, especially mistakes that you’ve already forgiven them for in the past.

4. Send super long texts bashing them to your friends. You should think twice before complaining about how horrible your partner is because you’re probably going to be more forgiving than your friends. You’ll get over what your person has done but your friends will always remember and judge them over it. Even if that’s not the case, do you really want to badmouth the person you love more than anything? You have a right to your opinion and your emotions, but you don’t want to disrespect someone who would never disrespect you.

5. Bring other people into your drama. Try not to get into arguments in front of friends. Try not to ask anyone to choose sides. Try not to post about your issues on social media. Try not to air your dirty laundry in the public eye.

6. Transition from lecturing them to straight up insulting them. It’s one thing to point out behaviors you aren’t happy with in your partner. It’s an entirely different thing to start name calling them and bringing up how it’s no wonder no one else wants them. You should never aim to hurt your person. You should never aim to say the most painful thing possible. Even when you’re pissed at them, you should still respect them.

7. Let things get physical. You shouldn’t throw your phone across the room. You shouldn’t slam doors. You shouldn’t break dishes. You shouldn’t allow yourself to express your anger with any type of physical violence.

8. Let your emotions get in the way of how much you love them. Even once you find your forever person, things aren’t always going to be smooth sailing. There are going to be rough days. There are going to be arguments. But you can never let your annoyance trick you into forgetting how much you love your person and how lucky you are to have them. TC mark
