When You Date A 'Good Guy' You Aren't Really Into

When You Date A ‘Good Guy’ You Aren’t Really Into

When you date a good guy you aren’t really into, you can never tell whether you’re doing the right thing . You want to give him a chance, but you don’t want to lead him on. You want to see whether sparks develop over time, but you don’t want to give him the wrong idea and end up breaking his heart.

When you date a good guy you aren’t really into, you try to talk yourself into liking him back. You tell yourself he’s perfect for you. You tell yourself you’re lucky to have him. You tell yourself most other guys wouldn’t treat you as well as he treats you. But what you tell yourself and what you actually feel inside are two completely different things.

When you date a good guy you aren’t really into, you feel like you don’t have any right to complain. You realize you have it pretty damn good. You realize most of your friends consider you lucky. You don’t want to look like you’re unappreciative of all the sweet thing he’s done for you. But at the same time, you don’t want to settle for any relationship that happens to be nontoxic. You want a relationship that makes you feel fulfilled. A relationship that checks off all your boxes. A relationship where you’re both happy.

When you date a good guy you aren’t really into, commitment becomes the scariest word in the world. You still aren’t entirely sure how you feel about him yet, so you don’t want to meet his parents or move into his apartment. You don’t want him to think the relationship is getting too serious. You try to stop him from getting too attached too quickly because you don’t want his world shattered if you end up leaving.

When you date a good guy you aren’t really into, you wonder whether something is wrong with you. You wonder whether you should settle for someone like him because the boys you usually like always end up hurting you. You wonder whether you’re not feeling any chemistry because you have bad taste or because this person really isn’t for you.

When you date a good guy you aren’t really into, you procrastinate when it comes to ending the relationship. You never know when the right time to have the talk is because you’re not sure what you’re going to say. It’s hard to explain why you aren’t feeling the same things he’s feeling. And the last thing you want to do is hurt him. He genuinely is a good guy. A guy who deserves better than the heartbreak you’re about to bring.

When you date a good guy you aren’t really into, the breakup can be just as tough on you as it is on him. You might feel guilty. You might feel greedy. You might feel like a grade-A bitch. But, deep down, you know you did the right thing. You know you couldn’t stay with him, just because he’s a good guy. You know he’s going to find a girl who fits him better — and you’re going to find someone who fits you better too. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
