Why She Spent So Much Time On The Wrong Person

She spent so much time on the wrong person because she sees the best in people. Because she gives out second chances. Because she hates giving up on others.

She spent so much time on the wrong person because she could imagine a real future alongside him. She could picture dating him seriously. She didn’t expect him to remain as an almost. She could have sworn that he would become her forever.

She spent so much time on the wrong person because no one else made her feel the way that he made her feel. There was such strong sexual tension between them. There was an unspoken connection. There was something there that she struggled to find with anyone else, which is what made it so hard to move on and so easy to keep clinging on.

She spent so much time on the wrong person because she sees the best in people. Because she gives out second chances. Because she hates giving up on others.

She spent so much time on the wrong person because she didn’t see the truth about him — and that is not entirely her fault. There weren’t many red flags for her to see because he was on his best behavior in front of her. He was charming. Chivalrous. Flirtatious. A true gentleman. He never told her that he wasn’t looking for a serious relationship. He kept stringing her along so that she wouldn’t think to leave.

She spent so much time on the wrong person because she interpreted his mixed signals the wrong way. Instead of being upset about how long it took him to respond to a text, she was happy he responded at all. Instead of giving up on him after he canceled plans, she believed him when he said they would reschedule. She trusted that he was doing his best, that he was telling the truth.

She spent so much time on the wrong person because she liked the attention. On the days when he treated her well, he would text back fast and flirt and beg her to come visit. On their good days, she felt beautiful, valuable, wanted. Those days made her believe he really did care.

She spent so much time on the wrong person because she was crazy about him. She saw something special in him. Even after she realized that she needed to move on, that she deserved someone better, she couldn’t break the hold he had over her. She was too attached. She liked him too much.

She spent so much time on the wrong person because she has a history of having bad taste. She never falls for the people who see her worth, who treat her right, who give her what she has earned. She always ends up attracted to bad boys. To boys who take advantage of her kindness. To boys who think of her as a backup plan.

She spent so much time on the wrong person because she is willing to take risks when it comes to love. She is willing to wear her heart on her sleeve. She is willing to get hurt once or twice if it means that she will find her forever person in the end. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
